In all stages of cancer, from diagnosis to recovery, exercising has been shown to have a very positive impact. Additionally, physical activity will always help to achieve the main goal in the cancer journey, Quality of Life, even if the prognosis is not favorable.
The topic is not covered in a specific scientific article today, but there is a considerable amount of research on it. Several publications are available in different journals, as well as a lot of information is available on MacMillan's or Cancer Research UK's websites. Exercise has direct benefits, regardless of the stage of the treatment, as shown in the infographic.
While energy management is a major concern when dealing with cancer, any amount of exercise is better than none, and it is never too late to start exercising. With expert guidance, this small amount can be progressed to achieve the recommended gold standard of 150 minutes of moderate activity a week.
